The BEST no bake vegan brownies ever! These raw brownies are fudgy, chewy, and perfectly decadent. Enjoy a delicious square topped with smooth chocolate frosting. They are gluten-free, refined sugar-free, and made with healthy ingredients. This dessert will be your new addiction!
Hi, I’m Kaylie and I’m a chocoholic. I know, I know; I’ve mentioned this before. But, really… if Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory actually existed, I’d happily be first in line. And, as a self-proclaimed chocolate connoisseur, I’m here to bring you my current favorite chocolate dessert: no bake vegan brownies with chocolate frosting. (Because, well, apparently adding extra chocolate to your already-chocolate-filled dessert is totally necessary!)
These no bake brownies are fudgy, soft and chewy, and perfectly sweet. The recipe is made with healthy gluten-free ingredients and contains NO refined sugar. They are my new addiction. Like, in the sense that I’ve been making them far too often for my own good. And, now, it’s your turn to enjoy them as much as I do!
What ingredients are in raw vegan brownies?
These brownies are primarily made with 3 ingredients: dates, nuts, and cacao powder. Specifically, we’ll combine raw walnuts, raw almonds, medjool dates, cacao powder, and salt to create the base.
How to Make No Bake Vegan Brownies
For the full recipe, scroll down to view the recipe card below.
First, add walnuts, almonds, cacao powder, and salt to a food processor. Process the ingredients until the nuts crumble.
Second, add the medjool dates. Process until a sticky dough forms. Be sure to remove the pits before adding the dates!
Next, line a square baking dish with parchment paper. Use clean hands to firmly press the brownie dough across the base of the dish. Set aside while you make the frosting.
How to Make Raw Vegan Chocolate Frosting
To make the chocolate frosting, simply whisk maple syrup, coconut oil, cacao powder, and vanilla extract together. Note: Be sure to use liquid coconut oil. If your coconut oil is solid (as pictured below), microwave it for 30 seconds. Then, measure 1/4 cup and combine the ingredients.
Now for the final step! Spread the chocolate frosting across the brownies. Then, store in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to set.
After, lift the parchment paper out of the square baking dish. Slice the no bake vegan brownies into 16 squares and enjoy!
Tips for making the best no bake brownies
- Use soft medjool dates. If possible, it is best to use fresh medjool dates because they bind the brownie ingredients together well. However, if your dates are on the drier/firmer side, it is still possible to make this recipe! Soak the dates in warm water for 5-10 minutes. After, drain the water and pat the dates dry with a paper towel. Then, proceed with the recipe.
- Use cacao powder or cocoa powder. You can use either ingredient for these no bake vegan brownies.
- Be sure to use melted coconut oil for the chocolate frosting. If your coconut oil is solid, melt it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then, measure 1/4 cup and combine with the other ingredients.
- Add a topping. After spreading the chocolate frosting over the brownies, feel free to add an additional topping. Crushed walnuts, hemp seeds, cacao nibs, shredded coconut, coconut flakes, and sprinkles are all great options.
- Store these raw vegan brownies in the refrigerator. I recommend placing them in an airtight container, then placing in the refrigerator. They should keep for up to one week.

Sooooo delicious and super rich and chocolatey! ย I didnโt have cashews on hand so used raw pecans instead along with the almondsโฆthatโs the only change I made. Oh and I did almost double the frosting cause why not ๐ฌ
Super good served with fresh raspberries on top!ย
Thanks so much for the super easy super amazing recipe!ย
Thank you so much for the great review, Patty!! Enjoy! ๐
These are spectacular! I made them as is and the recipe is perfect.
Wonderful to hear! Thanks, Susan ๐ So glad you enjoyed these no-bake vegan brownies!
Hello, I love this receipe but the brownie part crumbles even though I followed your instructiins. Any idea why?
Thank you! The no-bake brownie dough must be sticky. If it is not becoming sticky, your medjool dates are probably too dry. You can fix this by (a) using fresher and softer medjool dates, (b) adding 3-4 extra medjool dates, or (c) adding a splash of hot water to bring more moisture into the ingredients. Feel free to try any (or all) of these 3 solutions! Also, always make sure you are processing the ingredients until the dough is nice and sticky. It should not be crumbly. Keep blending until it is sticky.
Hi Kaylie!
These look delicious and I can’t wait to try them. Just wondering, is there a substitute for coconut oil?
Thanks!
Hi, Julia! Thank you! If you don’t want to use oil, replace the entire chocolate topping with melted chocolate.
I made this recipe and loved it!!! I actually halved the brownie ingredients (3/4 cup walnuts, 3/4 cup almonds, 1/4 cacao and 1 cup dates) and kept the frosting the same and they came out perfect!! I wanted a thick layer of frosting and it ended up actually being the perfect ratio. I also had to store mine in the freezer as the frosting didn’t set up 100%. THESE ARE DELICIOUS!!!!
Thank you so much, Jordan!! I’m super happy to hear you loved them! Sometimes I like making a thick layer of frosting too. ๐ Enjoy!! xo

Just wanted to check if we can use honey instead of Maple syrup?
Regards
Stacy
Hi, Stacy! Thank you so much ๐ Yes, you can replace the maple syrup with honey. It will have a slightly different flavor, but delicious nonetheless!
