Made with the Buydeem two-tier intelligent food steamer

From start to finish, this entire meal was created in the Buydeem Two-Tier All-in-One Intelligent Food Steamer. This experience brought a whole new meaning to the idea of “easy cooking” and I am so excited to share it with you!

Although I chose to keep things simple with steamed rice, lentils, and veggies, this nifty food steamer does it all. You can easily prepare oatmeal, soup, dumplings, buns, cake, yogurt, meat, eggs, and so much more. The options are truly endless.

How does it work? Simply add food into one (or both) of the two-tiered chambers, select the appropriate settings, and go! Check back when the timer is done and your meal will be ready to devour. Since there are two separate food-steaming tiers, you can even cook multiple different foods at the same time.

Why you’ll love the Buydeem Intelligent Food Steamer:

  • Heats in 60 seconds: With just the touch of a button, maximum steaming power is generated in under 1 minute. This is a huge timesaver for busy families.
  • Versatile functions: Enjoy a variety of cooking options – including stewing, steaming, and warming to keep food at the perfect temperature for an extended length of time.
  • Two separate steam racks: Feed several hungry mouths by using two separate steam racks at once.
  • Small batch recipes: The steamer allows for small batch and single serving recipes. This is helpful for reducing food waste or unwanted leftovers.
  • Stew pots: Utilize the slow mode to simmer soup, stew, chili, and porridge inside the stew pots. You can steam these foods in the lower tier while warming vegetables (or dessert!) in the upper tier simultaneously.

Why you’ll love this slow cooker lentil curry:

  • It’s vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, and soy-free
  • Made with healthy ingredients & simple pantry staples
  • The dish is flavorful, comforting, and satisfying
  • It’s high in plant-based protein
  • Made quickly and easily during busy weeknights

Ingredients in slow cooker lentil curry

  • Lentils: Use either brown or green lentils for this recipe. Lentils are rich in iron, B vitamins, and an excellent source of plant-based protein.
  • Vegetable broth: This liquid is preferable to plain water because it brings extra flavor and nutrients.
  • Coconut milk: A splash of coconut milk makes the curry richer and creamier.
  • Tomato paste: This concentrated paste adds a rich, meaty flavor.
  • Garlic and ginger: These essential ingredients enhance the aroma and flavor of all savory meals.
  • Spices: This lentil curry is flavored with various spices and blends, including curry powder, onion powder, garam masala, and salt.
  • Coconut sugar: Coconut sugar provides a touch of sweetness that balances all of the savory spices.
  • Rice: Use any type of rice. I love and recommend white basmati or jasmine rice for homemade curry recipes. In my opinion, it’s the tastiest option!
  • Cilantro: Garnish the meal with this tender herb to add a fresh, citrusy flavor.
  • Vegetables: Steam any vegetables of your choosing, like broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, and more. Serve alongside the lentils and rice.

How to make lentil curry in a slow cooker

This recipe was specifically created for the Buydeem Two-Tier Intelligent Food Steamer. However, you can also make it in a regular slow cooker! In order to do this, you will want to triple the lentil curry recipe. This is because most slow cookers require a large volume of ingredients.

First, begin by adding rinsed lentils, olive oil, tomato paste, garlic, ginger, onion powder, curry powder, garam masala, coconut sugar, and salt to the slow cooker. Stir together to combine.

Next, cover with the lid. Slow cook on high for 3-4 hours or until the lentils are tender. After, turn off the slow cooker and stir in the coconut milk. Serve lentil curry over cooked rice and garnish with fresh cilantro.

What vegetables go with curry?

Enjoy this lentil curry and steamed rice with ANY of your favorite veggies! I typically eat curry with cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. However, curry also pairs well with green beans, zucchini, bell peppers, and bok choy.

What to serve with lentil curry and rice

Although this meal is already well balanced with lentils, rice, and vegetables, there’s always room for tasty sides and toppings. Try the following options:

  • Roti or Naan: this flatbread is a popular side to enjoy with any type of curry
  • Baked tofu: get an extra boost of plant-based protein by adding tofu
  • Samosas: this fried pastry is often filled with savory veggies
  • Salad: freshen up the meal with a light side salad
  • Chutney: this dip is a delicious condiment for spicy curries
  • Potatoes: swap the rice with potatoes for a grain-free option

How to store leftover curry

Got leftovers? Allow the curry to cool down to room temperature. Then, transfer to a sealed container and store inside the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply warm on the stovetop or inside the microwave.
