Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup vegan butter sticks (2 sticks)
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 2–4 tbsp non-dairy milk, only if needed
Instructions
- Chop the vegan butter into cubes and add to a large bowl.
- Using a handheld electric mixer or stand mixer, beat the butter until creamy. Add vanilla extract and salt to the bowl. Beat together until combined.
- Add 2 cups sifted powdered sugar to the bowl. Beat together until evenly combined. Then, add the remaining powdered sugar and beat together again. If needed, add splashes of non-dairy milk to thin the frosting.
- Spread frosting on cake, cupcakes, or any dessert of your choice. Enjoy!
Notes
- I strongly encourage you to use vegan butter sticks rather than margarine from a tub. Tub butter is greasy and melts easily. I always use Earth Balance Vegan Buttery Sticks.
- Be sure to sift the powdered sugar in order to remove any clumps.
